Pro 14:21 He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.
Being a Christian is more than just having our sins forgiven. The experience of salvation changes us from loving our self above everything else to loving God supremely and loving others as our self. One sins who despises his neighbor; despises them by words, scorn or by ignoring their needs. On the contrary, one who shows mercy, has compassion on the poor will be blessed.
